Talkin' Turkey

I've been on this horse before, so I'll make it quick. $5 Million for Cedeno. Ouch.

$12.5 Million for Walker. Hopefully not too much Ouch. Depends on how much PT he gets. If he fails to get 130 games (which is LaRussa's "happy" goal) people will begin to stratch their heads.

Morris for dramatically cheaper is looking better and better with his quick return to health. Although he got hammered the other day I expect a much better season than compared to 2004.

The money not spent on the likes of Edgar could mean exciting new possiblities to shore up the bullpen. Long relief is looking more and more like the next pothole to clean-up.

Check out this great blog: Hardball Dollars, as it has UP TO DATE information!

If I remember correctly though the cardinals aren't paying Cedeno. The mets released him and the Cardinals picked him up, meaning they are only on the hook for the minimum.

Unfortunetly, that was the case last year. The Mets were paying the rest of his contract. However that is not the case this year. The Cards are on the hook for this year with a dramatic decrease next year. You can get much of the $$ info in on handy dandy place at Hardball Dollars in the links section.
thanks for the comment.

The Mets paid $9 million of the $10 million left on his contract.

Could someone point me in the direction where it says flat out that the Mets picked up 90% of his contract because I have obviously got some wrong information.

Dugout dollars (last updated summer '04) uses somewhat cryptic notation, but it appears that the Mets give the Cards $4M in two future seasons to cover most of Cedeno's salary. Here's the link:

Also, the Larry Walker amount is not the full $12.5M listed on Hardball Dollars, right? Colorado is picking up part of it.

Hardball dollars has $11.25M listed as "Cash in" for 2005 and annotated: "Tino Martinez, Cedeno, Walker"

Presumably, that 11.25 is the net of money out for Tino, and money in for Roger and Larry
